As I write this on the eve of the one-year anniversary of 17-year-old Chelsea King's murder here in San Diego County, I want to point out that there is also a world of drama and compassion that a writer must navigate as the victims' -- and even the killers' -- families ride the waves of trauma, loss and/or guilt, respectively. It requires patience, empathy and dogged determination to complete each and every one of these books because not everyone sees our job in a positive light. I'd like those people to understand that as a former, longtime newspaper reporter, my goal is not to make money off a victim's murder, but to try to educate folks so that we can better protect ourselves and our children from these men and women who can't -- or don't want to -- control their dangerous compulsions.Caitlin Rotherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12959199876686132855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6726772962039487966.post-39654589721061149992011-02-24T17:44:11.052-08:002011-02-24T17:44:11.052-08:00Wonderful look inside the "sausage factory,&q...Wonderful look inside the "sausage factory," Caitlin. People, sometimes even other authors, have no idea how much shoe leather and agonizing decisions go into these books. Good job dispelling some of that mystery!

Camille Kimball
www.camillekimball.com
What She Always Wanted
A Sudden Shot
Mammoth Book of Tough GuysCamilleKimballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14896253762859151536noreply@blogger.com
